Made by RV Power Products, HPV 22 is a fully automatic, very high performance current boosting photovoltaic (PV) charge controller. Advanced patent pending technology allows HPV 22 to increase charge current up to 30% or more. Controllers without this advanced technology simply can't deliver the charge current provided by HPU.

HPV increases charge current by tracking the peak power operating point of the PV array, allowing the array to produce greater output power which is the delivered to the battery as increased current. The charge current increase you can expect is variable and changes with operating conditions. Lower PV temperature increases available power, while lower battery voltage increases output current for a particular input power level. this means that the greatest current increase occurs when you need it most, in cold weather with a discharged battery! What you can be sure of is that HPU will deliver the highest charge current possible for a given set of operating conditions.

HPV does much more than increase charge current. It offers series pass Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) voltage control using highly efficient and reliable power MOSFET transistors. PWM control is superior to simple on/off type controllers and leads to a more fully charged battery, with longer life and less maintenance. Electronic current limit is also provided which prevents output current from exceeding 22 amps. This allows use of the full 22 amp capability without worrying about overload or nuisance fuse blow during those infrequent times when PV output is unexpectedly high.
