Every RV solar system needs the battery protection of a voltage regulator and a monitor to show battery state-of-charge. The regulator and meter can be purchased as separate units or in a COMBINATION regulator with meters built-in to conserve space, quicker installation and at a reduced cost.

BASIC REGULATORS are available in 8, 16, 20, 35 and 40 amp size to match the peak output of the panels. Usually they can be located near the battery bank for ideal operation. Call to find out the recommended unit for your RV.

MONITORS include amp and volt meters. Your RV may already have a quality digital volt meter built-in. The TRACE METER 500 has a special type of capability. You can select Amps in or out of the battery, state-of-charge (volts) plus Amp hours. This is the net result of the meter counting up and down to show how much remains in the battery.

If your RV is "solar pre-wired" at the factory, you may elect to use a basic regulator and separate TM 500 meter setup since it is often difficult to access the solar cable hidden inside the RV walls. The solar wire thus goes from the roof to the battery compartment.

If you are installing a new solar cable through the fridge vent, then it is desirable to use the COMBINATION REGULATOR with BUILT-IN METERS. With one simple connection point you ca n locate the meters and regulator in the wall beside the RV fridge.

How the Optional Sensor Fuse Kit works
The optional sensor is located near the battery. Amps show on the large LCD display, how much is recharging and how much is being used. For example: if the microwave, operated from inverter power, shows 116 Amps OUT of the battery you will not run it needlessly. It shows how much goes back into the battery when the generator & charger are working. Great trouble-shooter for entire coach electrical system.
